Our goal with DualPlay Studios is to make games that we and our players enjoy. To do this, we put the player experience above profit whenever possible, thereby trusting that if we make an enjoyable game, players will buy our product.
The name 'DualPlay Studios' has two meanings. DualPlay is a representation of the duality of the player and developer for a good community. Studios is plural not because we consist of multiple studios in a literal sense, but instead represents the different disciplines working together to develop a game.
Since I was a kid, I have had a passion for computers-- not just for playing games or watching videos, but for using them as a tool to build things. From robots and 3D printing to video games and building a server, I have probably tried creating it. In the past few years I started focusing on the software side of things and have grown my knowledge in building programs using C++, created games using Unreal Engine 4, taught myself how to create models using Blender, made Android apps using Java, built my own website using HTML/CSS, and more. But ever since I started learning to code I have wanted to start my own game development studio, and after learning a lot about the many aspects of game development, I have decided to make that dream a reality by founding DualPlay Studios.
I was pulled into fantastical worlds found in books like Harry Potter and The Inheritance Cycle at a very early age, albeit forced before Kindergarten. Through my love of these worlds I started creating my own grand adventures. I was introduced to gaming by my mother who showed me Tekken 3, Soul Caliber 3, and Siren. As fun as these games were, no game really grabbed my attention until Terraria and Minecraft. These games are a aspiring writer's heaven as you can visualize your stories inside of them. My first real taste of a story-driven game would probably be Skyrim. With my history of reading, you can guess how much I loved the game and its spider horses. Skyrim helped me realize that I could bring my worlds to life through games as a career (thanks to the devs). As my mother has always been in the music industry, I learned the musicians' craft, as well as how to make connections and friends. To end this off, I'll say that you should not live to please another person, but to better yourself and help others, no matter how small it is, the Butterfly Effect is very real.
